The Professional Equality Index is the result of the Loi pour la liberté de choisir son avenir professionnel (“Freedom to Choose Your Professional Future Act”).

This index allows French companies to assess the level of equality between men and women on a 100-point scale that considers the following criteria:

• Pay gap
• Difference in the proportion of women and men receiving wage increases
• Systematic increase of women during a year of maternity or adoption leave
• Number of women in the company’s ten highest-paying positions
